Many athletes from the province of Bamyan — including the women and participants in our film — were abruptly displaced, leaving behind the friendships and vibrant culture of their homeland. Champions of the Golden Valley captures the complex journey of becoming a refugee, vividly revealing the joy and richness of life before displacement. Today, Afghan refugees can be found in nearly every state in America and in communities around the world. Read on for ways to amplify our story and directly support the communities affected.

  • Support the Ski Community in Afghanistan

    Nurture and develop ski culture and community in Afghanistan by directly supporting the Bamyan Alpine Ski Club (BASC). BASC makes wooden skis for children, assists in ski training, and organizes an annual ski race for young boys. Just $30 is enough to gift a pair of wooden skis to a local athlete!

    You can also purchase a vibrant ‘Ski Afghanistan’ T-shirt here, where 100% of the proceeds go towards the ski club.

  • Support Afghan Women

    Support the right for Afghan women and girls to pursue their individual potential to self-determination, and to representation in all areas of life — political, social, cultural, and economic — through education, social engagements and activity by contributing to Women for Afghan Women and Hope for Her International.
